Venetian islands tour on private boat
San Francesco del Deserto's Island and its Church, near
the bell tower and the monastery. The area is surrounded by a
garden, where you can enjoy pleasant walks with the only company
of the twitter of the numerous birds that inhabit the
garden.
Torcello's Island: right in front of Burano we
find the island of Torcello. This is the
birthplace of the venetian culture and here is where the first
urban settlements in the lagoon were born. The houses and the
churches were built by Veneto's citizens, escaping from the
barbarian invasions. Due to the unhealthy conditions of the area,
this zone was abandoned later on. Today, we can still see the VII
century Cathedral "Santa Maria Assunta", Santa Fosca's Church, the
interesting Torcello's Museum and the peculiar stone seat, better
known as Attila's "throne".
Lunch at Locanda Cipriani. It was one of Hemingway's favourite
places in the area and here he composed one of his most important
books "Across The River And Into The Trees".
Walking through the streets of Burano: if you have a little more
time or if you come back to Venice, you can't go home without
visiting Burano, easily reachable with ferries. Visiting Burano is
unique: the island is not very crowded, the houses are very
colourful and it is impossible not to smile after a walk down its
streets because the whole atmosphere is serene and relaxing. The
island is also famous for its lace work.
